IN THE MATTER of an Inquiry into the conduct of Predrag Tomic arising from and in relation to Discipline File No. 2023-0566

NOTICE OF HEARING

TAKE NOTICE THAT pursuant to the provisions of Section 24.5 (5) of the Legal Profession Act, an inquiry will take place by a sole inquirer into the following matter relating to the conduct of Predrag Tomic.

It is alleged that:

1. It is alleged that by April 26, 2021 you knew or ought to have known that your client, the Estate of Rod MacInnis, had suffered material prejudice through the loss of the deceased’s home through public auction for unpaid taxes due to you having failed to assist your client in transmission of title to the home into the name of the administrator of the estate in a timely manner and you failed to report yourself to the Law Society as required under Section 7.1-3 of the Code of Professional Conduct and that such conduct is deserving of discipline.

2. It is alleged that you failed to act competently to serve the interests of your client, the Estate of Rod MacInnis, particulars of which include one or more of the following:
a. You failed to submit to the Land Titles Office the Transmission Application by Estate’s personal representative dated April 21, 2020 to transfer title to the deceased’s home into the name of the Estate’s personal  representative in a timely manner,
b. You failed to obtain from the Land Titles Office a current copy of the certificate of title to the deceased’s home to determine if notice of tax arrears and public auction sent by the municipality was sent to the proper          address of the registered owner,

Being contrary to one or both Sections 3.1-2 and 3.2-1 of the Code of Professional Conduct and that such conduct is deserving of discipline.

The inquiry will commence at the office of the Law Society of the Northwest Territories, 4th Floor, Diamond Plaza, 5204 – 50th Avenue, Yellowknife, NT, on Thursday, October 23, 2025 commencing at 9:30 am.
