Law Society of Ontario – Client Contingency Planning

The LSO requires lawyers working in private practice to appoint one or more lawyers as their plan administrator. Plan administrators are responsible for notifying the Law Society and the lawyer’s professional liability insurer that they have ceased practicing, advise existing clients and assist with transferring of client files and accessing the lawyer’s trust account.
