Committees
The Law Society maintains a number of committees to ensure the legal profession is properly governed under the Legal Professions Act. Legal professionals who are active members of the Law Society sit on these committees and elect Chairs and Vice-Chairs for those committees.
Ad Hoc Committees are established periodically to address specific concerns of the Law Society and the Legal Profession as a whole. Such committees are formed either through an existing committee (with approval from the Law Society Executive Committee), or the Law Society itself.
As well, there are various committees outside of the Law Society's jurisdiction that affect the legal profession and the public. In such instances, members are elected/appointed to represent the Law Society. As the recognized Law Society seat(s) in these committees and councils, these members are open to suggestions and concerns brought by other members of the Law Society.
Sign up for a committee.
If you would like to sit on one or more of the Law Society's committees, please forward your interest to communications@lawsociety.nt.ca.
